Little things mean a lot! Why does it appear so easy to become careless as creators and guardians of what is deemed the little things? Ultimately, their numbers increase to such an extent as to be likened to a pile up on the freeway, where you’re forced to STOP and REFLECT and ASK why this fork in the road has become a dominate recurring theme in your life: your leitmotif. Priority and value earmark the little things. Perhaps it’s a matter of not keeping your word~your promise, or not being punctual. Maybe it’s not paying a bill or repaying a loan on time or not at all. Perhaps a careless~thoughtless word is all it takes. Maybe it’s a missed opportunity to do good without benefit of recognition or accolades. Perhaps it’s a letter you didn’t write or a phone call you didn’t make. With purpose and intent, become better creators and guardians of the little things. Ensure that what grows in your life is what you intended to grow ~ what you nurtured and proudly stand behind. Any number of things can be coined the little things, you are the only one who can determine their priority and value. Proverbs 9:11 states, “Wisdom will multiply your days and add years to your life.”

Time validates that everything in life has its season, and that it’s up to you to continually reposition yourself ~ to prepare your mind and heart for each season’s transition. But, first things first! Against the Odds: Every morning, before you get out of bed, Seek God’s face~His voice~His counsel. Speak aloud His name with reverence. Forgive yourself and others. Petition (with precision) the exact desires and expectations that continually press on your heart and take up squatter’s rights in your mind. Affirm aloud in faith (with thanksgiving) that He heard your petition ~ that He is delivering you from strongholds that eclipse your pursuit of happiness and success. Invite His counsel; Ask Him “To Guide you along the best pathway for your life ~ To Advise you~ and To Watch over you.” (Psalm 32:28), that you might optimize your effectiveness throughout the day.” God’s word is a lamp to your feet and a light to your path.” (Psalm 119:105). Declare daily: “Thy Will Be Done. Amen,” thankful that “He orders His angels to protect you wherever you go!”- (Psalm 91:11).

Against the Odds: Inhale the incorruptible seed of God’s word, confidently assured “Every word is pure; He is a shield unto them that put their trust in Him.” (Proverbs 30:5). Exhale all thoughts at war with your free will. Embrace every opportunity to unburden your heart. Release your mind from whatever threatens to hold it hostage in some gilded cage of victim hood. Focus on what brings and keeps your life balanced. Focus on what allows you to seize each day ~ capture every moment ~ and brand them with your personal seal of approval.

Let your faith give you the courage to blow away the ‘black clouds’. Barnard aptly stated, “One picture is worth a thousand words.” And, Susan Sontag (On Photography, 2, 1977) adds, “To photograph is to confer importance.” Are your actions producing not one, but a series of photo finish snapshots, which will ultimately unveil that “one picture worth a thousand words?”…Or… that “one photograph that confers importance?” I hope they are because you matter! Your life matters! What you do or don’t do matters! Before there were days, you were on the mind of God! You are that “One picture worth a thousand words”…that “one photograph that confers importance.” No one knows the hour or season for the unveiling of another of God’s Masterpieces! Be ready.
